The flat looked fine at first but had hidden problems. Pantry moths seemed to be living inside the walls and never went away. The unit was freezing in winter due to poor insulation, and the master bedroom window didn’t latch properly. During the April 2015 storms it blew open, letting in a large amount of rain. Mould quickly appeared, but instead of fixing the window the agency blamed us. The kitchen had no range hood so grease collected around the frames, and the overall layout felt dated and impractical. Even the front door was missing part of its slow-close mechanism so it slammed loudly each time it shut. Although the kitchen has since been renovated, I doubt the underlying problems with pests and ventilation have been resolved.
