The property photos used online were reportedly from many years earlier and did not reflect the current condition of the unit. Although the previous tenant had vacated, the carpets had not been cleaned and there was a strong odour throughout the property. Carpets appeared heavily worn and damaged.
There were numerous maintenance and presentation issues including a damaged shower screen, dirty ceiling heating ducts with missing covers, broken kitchen drawers, worn adhesive coverings on benchtops, damaged blinds and poor lighting fixtures. One bedroom wardrobe also contained exposed venting infrastructure.
The shared driveway and front area were cluttered by neighbouring tenants' belongings, limiting privacy and quiet enjoyment. After prospective tenants attended inspections, the agent also disclosed that the owner may decide to sell the property. Overall the property condition appeared significantly below what was advertised.
