I lived at this property for three years. It was always advertised by an agency, but after signing, it became a private rental. The landlord owns and ‘manages’ multiple properties. The dishwasher never worked, and despite repeated requests, he refused to repair it for the entire tenancy. Our old heater gave us carbon monoxide poisoning — he told us we probably just didn’t know how to turn it on properly. It was declared unsafe and ordered to be replaced, yet two years later it was still there. We were also overcharged rent by 00, and at the bond inspection he tried to ‘negotiate’ keeping it or withholding our bond entirely. The confrontation was so aggressive that neighbours intervened after hearing the shouting. He left with all our bond and the overpaid rent. We took him to VCAT and won, but he continued to harass and threaten us for months. He later filed another baseless VCAT claim and lost again. He tried to claim ,000 for a full kitchen renovation over a single soy sauce stain on a 20-year-old shelf. He often failed to show up for arranged inspections, or worse, turned up unannounced — once deliberately letting our cat out of the apartment. Renters beware, especially women. He is intimidating, verbally abusive, and completely disrespectful.
