We moved in a few months before the 2021 floods and it was awful from the start. The bathroom wallpaper was torn, floors warped so badly furniture slid, lights didn’t work and weren’t fixed, and the stairs were unsafe. When the floods came, the backyard, shed and laundry went under, and the roof began leaking in multiple rooms. The cause was blocked drains and gutters that had never been maintained. Afterward, we were left to clean the damage ourselves. The landlord’s father—sent to ‘inspect’—told us we were imagining problems and tried to clean mould by mixing bleach and vinegar, which is dangerous. It took five months before an insurance claim was lodged, which was rejected due to lack of maintenance. The house was full of mould, the ceilings bowed and leaked, and we felt unsafe. When we left, they painted over the damage and called it fixed. Through our security system we heard the landlord and his father mocking us and our décor (which was theirs). Horrendous experience with a collapsing house and zero accountability. Nice location though.
