This property was unsafe and in poor condition. The kitchen was a converted laundry with mould and broken fittings, and the house shared a thin wall with the landlord’s section of the building. There was no soundproofing at all, and arguments from next door were so loud it felt as if they were happening inside our rooms. The landlord’s son was often aggressive and yelling, and police came to our front door several times thinking it was their side of the property, even once at 1am. One morning I found a stranger standing in my bedroom after mistaking our entrance for the landlord’s. The agent, Walshe and Whitelock, were told repeatedly that we felt unsafe, but they ignored every report and failed to take any action. It was one of the most distressing places I have ever lived.
