This property was cold, damp and badly maintained. A water leak started in the upstairs bathroom and soon came through the ceiling into the lounge room below, leaving a large patch of mould. The landlord delayed repairs for weeks, saying the tiler was unavailable, and later painted over the mould before re-leasing the house. When the rent was increased by five hundred dollars a month we asked for an explanation, and the landlord became aggressive and threatened eviction. They tried to make us leave with only two weeks’ notice until Consumer Affairs intervened. Other tenants have since reported the same behaviour. It was an unpleasant experience that showed a complete disregard for renters’ rights.
