The landlord attempted to raise our rent by 00 a month and then tried to evict us illegally with only two weeks’ notice. When we questioned the increase, they became aggressive and threatening. Only after contacting Consumer Affairs did they agree to the proper notice period. During our tenancy the upstairs bathroom leaked into the downstairs living area, leading to a large mould patch. Despite repeated requests it wasn’t fixed for weeks, and when we left they simply painted over the mould to re-lease the house. The property itself was cold and poorly maintained, and the landlord showed little regard for legal obligations or tenant wellbeing. I later learned other tenants had faced similar issues with them.
