The ensuite was a quick DIY job with no ventilation and poor drainage, plus the laundry vented into the house instead of outside. This caused thick condensation and major mould damage to our belongings. In winter, the windows leaked badly too.
We raised it several times, and instead of helping, the agent gave our details to the landlord without asking. His suggestion? Buy a new dryer — even though ours worked fine.
When we asked for compensation before moving out, they sent a so-called “mould inspector” who was actually just there to quote for cleaning. We followed up for weeks and got nothing. Once we mentioned VCAT, they blamed us for “poor cleanliness” despite never raising it during inspections.
We had over a year of proof. Emails, calls, and photos and still, they tried to pin it on us.
They also tried to deduct from our bond for damage that was there when we moved in, and we had to replace a broken garage remote they’d originally given us in pieces.
The agency dodged every bit of responsibility. The property had serious faults, and we were left to deal with it all.
