Share house rented for about eight months in 2018. The property had no internet connection when I moved in, so I had to arrange installation myself. The small bedroom barely fit a single bed and TV, and I had to install a lock for safety. The kitchen sink constantly backed up with waste, the oven was unusably filthy, and the whole house was poorly maintained. The long-term tenant in the front room was on parole for violent offences, sexually harassed and intimidated me, and even stole my underwear. His partner once chased me with a kitchen knife. The landlord’s daughter managed the property from overseas but ignored every report of harassment and safety concerns, advising me to ‘call the police or stay in my room’. I left the day I finally got a car. Horrifying experience and completely unsafe for women.
