The landlord spruced up the property before inspection, but once we moved in, things quickly deteriorated. Power points were ripped out, there was no hot water, and the house had no heating or cooling. The address was previously used as an illegal brothel and squat, which attracted unwanted visitors. I found methamphetamine in drains and even heroin left at the front door. The property was stealing electricity from next door until the landlord was forced to install a legal pole, leaving debris behind. As a single mother with a young child, the danger and negligence we experienced was appalling. The landlord should never have been allowed to rent this property in such a state.
