The property had serious structural and maintenance issues. The foundation appeared to be sinking, there was an ongoing shower leak that the landlord refused to fix, and water would seep through the downstairs floor during heavy rain. There were also concerns about potential electrical faults, which made the property feel unsafe.
Both stair access points were rotten and potentially hazardous, the verandah had gaps through to the garage below, and there were visible gaps in the flooring. The dishwasher was unreliable and there was a hole in the laundry covered with duct tape that appeared to allow rodents inside. Utility costs were extremely high compared to our new property, despite similar or lower usage.
Overall, getting repairs addressed was extremely difficult and the house felt poorly maintained and not compliant with basic building standards.
