This apartment building at 52 Park Street was far from the luxury one might expect in South Melbourne. The building was plagued by disturbances, including violent banging and screaming in corridors, construction noise at 1am, and even a resident attempting to jump from a balcony during a domestic dispute. Fire alarms went off constantly, often between 1–5am, due to poor design — the alarm button was easily accessible and frequently triggered accidentally or by pranksters. The building manager was rarely seen and communication was non-existent. Structurally, the apartment swayed in heavy winds, shook from trams, and vibrated during nearby construction. The flat itself was cramped, unstable, and poorly maintained. Overall, the building suffered from chronic mismanagement, structural flaws, and repeated safety issues — an awful place to live.
