This flat was in very poor condition when we moved in. It was filthy, with grease behind the oven and mould on the bedroom wall where our bed was. The property manager sent a handyman who simply painted over the mould rather than removing it. The toilet was extremely dirty, and the ceiling had thumbtacks and blu-tack marks everywhere. Door handles constantly broke, and instead of fixing them properly, the handyman swapped them from doors they thought we didn’t use. The shower head, hot water and heater were all broken at the start of the tenancy. While those were eventually fixed, the heater was far too small to warm the unit. Overall, it was a cold, neglected and uncomfortable place to live.
