Renting this property was a constant struggle. The house is a neglected former housing commission home with major maintenance issues. Windows did not lock, the carport roof leaked so badly that rain damaged my car, and the back fence was collapsing due to overgrown bushes. Electrical fittings were unsafe, with exposed wires and broken fans. The toilet drain outside had burst before I moved in, leaving raw sewage on the terrace that was never cleaned. Heavy rain caused mould throughout the house and on my belongings, leading to breathing problems for my child. The oven took months to repair and the bathroom heater was unsafe. Inspections and tradespeople were coming through almost every few weeks, yet nothing was properly fixed. The agent showed little care for tenant wellbeing. I left after twelve months, exhausted and disappointed.
