I have lived in this property since 2019 and have tried to leave at the end of each tenancy, but the rental crisis made that difficult. The house is in massive disrepair and many issues were present at move-in. Rent was increased by about 35% over two years despite the condition worsening.
Major concerns include unsafe or poorly maintained electrical work, repeated plumbing leaks, warped doors and windows, broken flyscreens, mould recurring each rainy season due to poor sealing, damaged floors with gaps where you can see under the house, and repairs that took months or years even when repeatedly reported. Some air conditioners were faulty or dangerously installed, and multiple fixtures, fans, lights, cupboards, and doors were broken or unusable.
A serious safety issue is that the windows are covered by fixed security bars that cannot be opened without a special spanner. A tradie warned this could trap occupants in a fire because you may not be able to escape through any windows.
We also dealt with ongoing admin problems such as missing or incorrect keys, the agency losing their set of keys then blaming us for changing locks, and generally slow, repetitive maintenance cycles where the same issues required multiple visits to partially fix.
Overall, the property has been neglected for years and required constant follow-ups for even basic repairs.
