The apartment itself was fine, but living there quickly became uncomfortable. The landlord’s daughter and her partner occupied the main bedroom and were controlling, passive-aggressive and hypocritical about shared spaces. Threats to evict came after rent was two days late, and bills were never split fairly or shown despite multiple requests. When my partner moved out, the landlord refused to provide receipts or quotes for deductions, kept the full bond and withheld unused rent even after promising a refund. They also claimed that because a ‘living agreement’ was signed instead of a lease, there were no tenant rights — an absurd and misleading statement. The landlord, a lawyer from the Central Coast, was dismissive, rude and threatening whenever transparency was requested. Avoid this property and landlord.
