This property needs serious maintenance, but that’s unlikely since it’s owned by developers repeatedly denied building approvals. You’ll live with constant uncertainty about when you’ll be evicted. The back fence is propped up by star pickets and could collapse in the next storm. Mould spreads through the lounge and bathroom, worsens when it rains, and transfers onto the blinds. Venetian blinds crumble at a touch, the hot water system barely gets warm, and windows don’t seal—leaving the home full of dust and insects. The house shifts from nearby construction, with cracked walls, uneven floorboards, and flaking 1960s lacquer. The front gutter and roof leak badly, the balcony floods, and the handrail and steps are unsafe. Both toilets clog easily and the shower screen is detaching. The ducted AC doesn’t work, and the wall unit vibrates half the house. Noisy neighbours and zero privacy, though the locals are friendly. Structurally unsound, damp, and deteriorating—a nightmare rental dressed up as a ‘character home’.
