The property was an unsafe under-house setup with severe maintenance and safety issues. There were no smoke alarms, water leaking from the upstairs shower, graffiti-covered walls, missing ceilings patched with drywall, and numerous illegal electrical connections using powerboards and extension cords. The windows were covered with screwed-on grilles that made escape in an emergency impossible. There was no toilet downstairs — tenants were expected to use the one belonging to the upstairs occupant, or go outside if they weren’t home. Sagging beams, mould, and general decay made the place completely uninhabitable. The landlord knew all of this yet still charged full rent. Avoid at all costs.
