This tenancy ended with a successful NCAT case in which I was awarded over ,000 in compensation. The landlord unlawfully increased rent twice with little or no notice, threatened eviction when I refused to comply, and eventually served a retaliatory termination notice. Throughout five years, urgent safety issues such as dangerously hot water, structural cracks and leaks, and inadequate ventilation leading to mould were ignored. Repairs were repeatedly left half-finished, trades often arrived with almost no notice, and the landlord and her family frequently entered or demanded access with minimal warning. I was harassed over rent payments even while weeks in advance. The stress and cost of moving, tribunal proceedings, and health risks from unresolved safety issues made this one of the worst renting experiences I have ever had.
