Front verandah floorboards were broken, missing, and loose. There was no insulation and you could see your breath in the kitchen during winter. The alcove section was rotted wood, so cold air came in around the sink, tap gaps, and slatted windows. There were gaps throughout the floorboards and we had to lay rugs everywhere. The hallway wall heater had to run constantly and gas cost about 00 over winter. The bathroom floorboards were soggy and clearly rotten, but the property manager did nothing despite being told multiple times.
There was black mould in the roof. The advice from the property manager was to scrub it with mould remover and open the one working bedroom window to air it out, in the middle of winter. The roof was not sealed properly so it leaked heavily during rain into the linen cupboard, lounge room, and spare room. We also dealt with possums and rats. We were told the owner would look at the roof themselves but it never happened, and we were told to arrange wildlife relocation for the possums.
Electricals were unsafe. The circuit breaker would trip the whole house if you plugged in too many things, including using an oil heater in the bedroom. Old slatted glass windows at the back of the house and in the toilet were not sealed, so spiders and bugs were constant. The foundation had shifted so the whole house felt uneven, and the back door did not shut properly, leaving about a 2 inch gap that let in draughts and pests. The front light did not work and we were told the owner wanted to fix it themselves due to old wiring, but they never did. The fence on the east side was rotten or leaning and was never repaired.
We paid 05 per week. Two stars only because the location was good, but it was not worth the money.
