The property was effectively uninhabitable when I moved in. There were used syringes in the garage, rodent droppings throughout every room, and the dishwasher plumbing had been chewed through and used as a rat nest. I spent many hours cleaning grime, stains and debris that should have been addressed before the tenancy began.
There were ongoing mould issues that became significantly worse over time, with black mould eventually covering much of the downstairs study area. The real estate proposed simply painting over it and failed to properly address the problem. There were also concerns about discrepancies with advertised features and fire safety compliance.
Despite sending dozens of emails requesting urgent repairs, very little action was taken. I ultimately had to leave the property and recover my bond through VCAT due to the unsafe living conditions. Overall, this was one of the worst managed rental experiences I have encountered.
