The property was poorly renovated, uninsulated and plagued with plumbing and septic issues. During our 12 month tenancy we issued numerous breach notices for minimum standards failures, urgent plumbing blockages and sewerage contamination in the backyard. A broken sewer pipe was never properly repaired, and independent testing confirmed E.coli contamination, yet no meaningful action was taken. We had to section off part of the yard to protect our dog.
Half of a four car garage was occupied by the owners storage without disclosure. Garden maintenance included in the lease was frequently ignored, with long delays and unsafe grass growth in a bushfire zone. Electrical safety compliance documentation was not provided before occupancy and urgent non compliant issues took weeks to fix.
Communication and conduct from the owners was overbearing and inappropriate, including repeated attempts at improper entry and attempts to blame tenants for structural defects. Repairs were handled with temporary fixes rather than permanent solutions. Overall, the experience was stressful and deeply disappointing, and the property did not match how it was advertised.
