At first the unit seemed fine, but dealing with the management was exhausting. I signed a two-year lease and quickly got the sense the landlord wasn’t happy about it. They constantly reminded me what a ‘deal’ I was on during the rental price surge. Over that time I had three different property managers I only ever found out about the changes when I called and was told the previous one had already quit. As the lease ended, neither the landlord nor the property manager treated us with any understanding. Instead of a short extension, they pushed for a six-month renewal with a huge rent increase that wasn’t even legal in Queensland. Inspections were chaotic and poorly run, with no clear communication between the agency and contractors. The only real positive was that every room had its own air con.
