The real estate agency was professional and helpful throughout the tenancy, however the experience with the landlord was very different. The landlord lived next door and, after three years in the property, attempted to claim almost the entire bond using around $6,000 worth of repair quotes prepared by friends and family.
The property contained issues including exposed asbestos and rotting door frames, yet after vacating the owners sought to charge for new flooring, carpets, painting and garden work despite a gardener maintaining the property. The full bond was ultimately withheld, even though the property was subsequently leased again without those quoted repairs being completed.
