I lived at 24 Ivy Street for about a year because the rent was cheap and close to the station. A small mould issue was fixed early on. The main problem was the landlord who lived there and monitored everything. After I left the kitchen light on once, he messaged to say he had seen me via a backyard camera reflection. He checked cupboards and left notes like No wet stuff in the cupboard, which at one point included my toothbrush. The shower was on a 12-minute timer and was often dirty; it improved only after his boyfriend moved in. Simple requests, such as replacing the bathroom plug, were dragged out and often blamed on the boyfriend. In winter the house was very cold; my room did not hold heat and the lounge was often unusable unless he turned the heater on. His solution was hot-water bottles. If we used room heaters they had to be very cheap oil units; he monitored usage to the cent and charged us. He took over a month to return my bond and the amount was off. During rent hikes he raised the room by 0 in one go. Overall it felt controlled, cold and stressful; it avoids a 1-star only because the boyfriend was reasonable and some things improved.
