The house was riddled with mould and water appeared to be entering from multiple sides of the building. A water damage inspector said the property was in very poor condition, and also told us they had been called out for quotes in previous years that were never acted on.
Before moving in we were told the landlord was great and that previous tenants had stayed for six years, but neighbours later told us each group had only stayed around a year. We were also told the floors would be repainted and the carpet cleaned before move in, but this did not happen.
The landlord took months to respond to requests and usually refused action. The agency was also misleading and overly restrictive, even saying approval was needed to use removable wall hooks. Overall this was a combination of poor maintenance, mould, water damage and poor communication from both the landlord and agency.
