This is a post office with three rooms above that are rented out. The rooms are rented by the people running the post office, and they rent the whole property from the owner. I lived in a room with a pipe running through it that leaked every time it rained for years. There was also a rodent infestation and the ceiling around the pipe eroded and was not fixed until much later.
There was no internal heating, no smoke alarm, and no ventilation. The toilet was in an outside outhouse. The rent was cheap at first but later increased.
The first post office operator was considerate, but the person who replaced them did not care about tenants. Later housemates created serious issues, including unhygienic behaviour and an incident where I was attacked in the kitchen. Overall the living conditions and safety were unacceptable.
