I stayed in a place in Tighes Hill, Newcastle, as a lodger paying $300 per week including utilities, and part of the arrangement was to occasionally look after the owner’s dogs. But "occasionally" quickly became full-time dog-sitting—even during my holidays—and when I finally said no, I was hit with a 7-day eviction notice.
She later altered the original Flatmates listing to remove mention of utilities, and now claims I have to pay half the bills, even though I’ve only been there two months. I can prove she changed the listing.
She also told me that one of her previous tenants had been evicted by police, and honestly, it seems like it was probably for reasons similar to mine. She expects a glorified dog sitter at her beck and call, and when you can’t help, she turns on you. She falsely claimed I threatened her, which was completely untrue.
To top it off, she dumped my belongings outside in the rain. This landlord is dishonest and manipulative. Avoid.
