Rented a granny flat on a rural block where the owner regularly accessed a storage area attached to the carport and would come and go without notice. The setup had multiple health and safety issues, including uneven flooring throughout the main living area and near the bathroom, unsafe external access paths/steps, and a hazardous route to the clothes line. A compost toilet system appeared to run off down the slope behind the property. The water tank and catchment system were in very poor condition, and on at least one occasion the tank was topped up with bore water without notification or confirmation it was safe to drink. After ongoing concerns about discoloured water and no resolution, I became unwell and was later treated for bacterial bronchitis. Inside, there were gaps/holes and makeshift patching (including steel wool in a wall hole), carpets lifting and showing signs of mould, and significant maintenance that was dismissed as unfixable. A loud water pump would run whenever any of the dwellings on the land used water, and the owner would step onto the veranda without notice to check water levels. Overall, the property felt unsafe, poorly maintained, and lacking basic privacy.
