After living here I developed anxiety about flooding. The bathroom ceiling leaked whenever it rained, dripping water onto the floor tiles beside the toilet. When I complained, I was told, ‘It only leaks when the wind blows a certain way.’ During heavy rainfall, the kerb and gutters on Botany Road flood quickly, with water creeping up to the front and rear steps of the property. My car, parked on the street, was regularly flooded — the footwells filled with water and had to be bailed out by hand before I could drive. The carpets stayed wet for weeks afterwards. There’s no off-street parking, so there was no avoiding it. To top it off, the male landlord would personally turn up for repairs, unannounced and unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend renting this place unless you enjoy mopping up after every storm.
