The property initially appeared pleasant, but numerous maintenance and privacy issues emerged. Poorly measured renovations meant the allocated fridge space was unusable. The gas heating system appeared not to have been serviced, the stovetop repeatedly failed and the landlord and a relative installed its replacement themselves.
The converted garage extension leaked whenever it rained. After repeated requests, a tradesperson advised that it had been badly constructed and would require major roof rebuilding, although only temporary repairs were attempted. The air conditioning also failed during summer and took around four weeks to be addressed before breaking again.
Throughout the 15-month tenancy, the landlord continued sending personal and business mail to the property. On one occasion the landlord arrived without notice at 10pm seeking a credit card that had been delivered there, despite arrangements being made through the agent. The roof leak later returned and remained unresolved. Overall, repairs were slow and temporary, while the landlord's unannounced attendance caused significant privacy concerns.
