Rented this apartment for 18 months and it was a nightmare from day one. The landlord repeatedly ignored tenancy laws, even letting himself into the property uninvited while my partner was home. The place was filthy when we moved in, requiring multiple professional cleans and hundreds of dollars in cleaning supplies. Walls were full of dents and patch marks — we offered to repaint if he provided materials, which he agreed to, but then he hiked the rent from 20 to 00 per week and refused to renew the lease unless we signed a side agreement waiving repair rights. We replaced broken and mouldy fixtures ourselves at our own expense, and now he’s trying to claim we left the place in worse condition. A deeply unpleasant experience with a landlord who showed zero professionalism or respect for tenants.
