This house has significant structural issues and water damage. It’s a shame because it’s a big house for this area and has a cool layout, but hasn’t been looked after at all. I moved in here with housemates as a co-tenant and never signed a lease. I soon found out there was no lease to begin with. Super dodgey. The landlord was a super young guy who was GIVEN the house by his parents. Mould started to grow all over the living room roof, there wasn’t a single spot on the roof that was not infested with mould. Then the walls and roof in the living room started to leak. All of our clothes that were in built-in cupboards got covered with mould. The couch in the living room had mould growing on it as well as all our wooden furniture. When the LL came to look at it, he literally just got a spray anti-mould and wiped it all off without saying anything to us, having it fall down off the roof and onto all of our belongings. It was disgusting. The water damage on my roof was significant to begin with but eventually caved in after heavy rain, leaking disgusting orange rain water all over my clothes. I called the LL right away and he told me he couldn’t come until the rain stopped (okay I guess I’ll just sleep in my flooding room???). A couple of days later he brings his what looked like 70 year old dad over to fix the roof, instead of a contracted tradesperson. The dad obviously butchered the roof and they leave it overnight as the job didn’t get finished in time. Bowls and bowls of water leaked into my room overnight. Ironically, right after this they gave us notice they were raising the rent. We immediately looked for a new place. You can see a photo below of what the roof in my room looked like when we left. One guy stayed and told me that after we vacated they deemed my room 'unliveable' and did not rent it out/took 50 off the weekly rent until it was fixed. Yet I had to pay full rent until I left. SCUMLORDS!!!
